The Taste Great Southern Express is a 4-day event package with return coach transport from Perth to Albany, 3 nights twin-share accommodation with breakfast at Quality Apartments Banksia Gardens, and tickets and transfers to 4 festival events:
"Grandeur” (Friday 27 March): Indulge in a magical night of splendour at Phillips Brook Estate, with MC Magnus Danger Magnus, and entertainment acts Lil Miss Squeeze and The Piano Man. Feast on local food spits and fire roasted delights from Woodfired Catering Co, accompanied with Great Southern wine from Bunn Vineyard and Freehand Wines, and enjoy Gins and Whiskey from award winning distillery Limeburners.
“Shop Local Eat Local” (Saturday 28 March): Meet Julie Goodwin, inaugural winner of MasterChef, at the Albany Farmer’s Market. Savour the freshest seasonal fruits, vegetables, farmed meat, dairy, cheese and seafood – all from the Great Southern Region. Julie will prepare a spontaneous and tasty treat for visitors on the day from the produce bought at the markets that morning. It is bound to be something special!
“Big BBQ” (Saturday 28 March): The Due South team hosts an Aussie BBQ on the waterfront with spectacular views of princess Royal Harbour. Your taste buds will be delighted with smoky BBQ meats prepared in their very own Thomas the Smoker, complimented by fresh house made salads and breads.
“Two Waters Dinner” (Sunday 29 March): This five-course degustation by Fervor will excite you with locally sourced and native Australian ingredients at the beautiful and iconic Emu point in Albany. Chef Paul Iskov and his team are renowned for their pop-up dining experiences, working in partnership with local communities and Traditional owners. A special appearance will be made by Chef Guy Jeffreys (Millbrook winery, Bunkers beach House, Evans and Tate) and wines matched by Larry Cherubino Wines.
